Very Light Pressing

June 26, 2013
Noon

Shoulder was still feeling a bit tweaky, especially with a bit of weight so I just kept today very minimal. Yesterday I also did some work with my Vulcan with no chalk just to get blood moving as well.

February 25, 2012

205 x 13

1b) Vulcan V2 - MMS - Black

Right L14 x 1, 1
Left L12 x 1, 1

I didn't have time to get in any kind of big workout today and yesterday I couldn't as I was on the road all day for work. Today was also my second crack at the wider grip. I'm not sure if I like it at I can feel it in my shoulders a bit. The last couple of sets I went to a thumbs width from the smooth and it seemed to feel a bit better. Another thing that I should've fixed right off the start that I didn't until towards the end was to drop the J hooks. Using the wider grip I lose about an inch for unracking and I fumbled with a few sets getting it out. I'm sure the 315 would've went much easier than it did but I lost my tightness and had to replant and grab my air again after the bar was unracked.

Grippers I terminated a bit early as my elbows were starting to bug me from the setting and I didn't want to bugger up my bench for the day.

Another point of interest is that I've basically confirmed that there's no strength loss doing shoulder pressing prior to bench. If there would be I'd have noticed some pretty significant gains these last two Saturdays.

First day trying out my new Stronger Grip Multigrip Bar. A couple of little tweaks that I think I may change but overall I'm happy. Sure hit my triceps hard! Good! Pressing and more pressing and more tricep work to get better at pressing.

Vulcan felt good. One thing I need to focus on is to not think as much and just grab it and go.

Life got in the way of getting my regular workout in tonight. I'm thinking though that since I didn't get my front squats in tonight tomorrow should probably be a good day for some deadlifting. I'll superset my heavy BTN presses at lunch with them and SS my medium bench work with the Saxon tomorrow. Maybe bring my blob into the office during the morning for some training during work.

Vulcan V2 Gripper - How far my hand sits back to set

Here's a couple of pictures just to illustrate how difficult it is for me to set this gripper. My index and middle fingers can't even begin to wrap or assist with the set until I can force it back almost an inch then it's quite a fight to get the next two on and to change my grip on the setting hand so I can use more of a knuckle/thumb combo to help the set.

And a view from the back. When I'm actually doing a close my fingers are back a bit further yet.

A World of Grip Workout :D

A fight and a half setting the level 15 on the V2. I'm positive though if I can clean up my set with the bugger I'll jump another couple of levels easy.

Did the WD work seated to really emphasize my wrists and such. Left elbow was a little niggly so I didn't want to push it to hard. Who knows, maybe my right hand lead will catch up now lol.

Vulcan, Blobs and Minimal Pad Bending

Oct 4, 2011
Vulcan, Blobs and Minimal Pad Bending

1) Vulcan - Black - MMS
L8 x 20/16, 13/10
L10 x 3/4
L11 x 3/3, 2/4 8:40

2) Double L Blob Lifts - EW
45/40 x 4, 3, 3, 1
40/40 x 5, 5, 4, 6, 5, 4 16:30

3) Reverse Bend - Single IM Pad
5/16" HRS x 7" x 30'

I'm still stinking sick but I think I may be able to have a good full blown workout tomorrow. After watching Junie demolish a piece of 5/16" HRS in an IM pad yesterday I decided to give it a crack myself. Kudos man! That minimal crap was hitting all kinds of extensor muscles in my lead arm that don't feel it with singles. This was my first crack at any kind of minimal pad stuff but I think I may throw it in the mix.

Logbar, Grip and Pinch

Sept 28, 2011
Logbar, Grip and Pinch

1) Log Bar - Short Cycle
155 x 5
175 x 3, 3, 5, 5, 5, 5, 4 15:10

2) Band Pulldowns - Wrap-around
Avr x 10, 10, 8, 5 1:50

3) Vulcan - Black - 65mm Block
L6 x 3/3, 3/2, 2/2 4:55

4) L Blob - EW - Double Lift
40/40 x 6/6, 3/3, 4/4, 3/3, 4/2 5:45

Log press felt really good. Was moving along at a good pace. Probably go for some higher intensity next time. I want to get some more work in with it before the snow flies.

65mm (deck of cards) width tested best for the gripper. Man that's a wide set, especially with the Vulcan and its smooth handles. I can't start it with my pinkie on the gripper and the back handle is waaay back in the hand.

Blob picks were going good until I jammed my thumb and had blood coming out from under my nail everywhere. I'll get it next time. At least I got some work in.

As I write this I think I'm going to see what I can get overhead with the log next time as long as everything's going well.

Another thing I was thinking about is I'm not to sure how effective some of these pre-workout drinks are. Basically I've got to wait 45-60 minutes to make sure I don't have to take a crap because of it (I usually do) and then I end up working out while the stuff's on a decline in my system. More thought......

Deads and such

September 19, 2011
Deads and such

1) CV Deads - Regular Stance
225 x 3
315 x 3
455 x 3, 3, 2, 1
425 x 1 18:40

2) Jefferson Deads - Alternate Lead Leg - First Time
225 x 8, 8
275 x 8, 8 10:30

3) BB Shrugs
315 x 20, 20 3:00

4) Vulcan - Black - MMS
L9 x 10/5, 8/5, 3/3, 3/2, 3/3 6:30

CV deads didn't feel really strong. Trying to use a belt but I'm just not feeling it. So far I'm probably 50# stronger without it.

I tried Jefferson's tonight and they felt great (other than topping out lol). Really felt them in the legs and the mid back and lats. I can definitely increase the weight on these a bunch but I want to work the form some more before I start pushing to substantial of a weight as I'm adjusting my feet a bit during the reps and such trying to get the weight displaced properly.

The Vulcan actually felt okay even with the crappy showing, probably all of the pulls took some strength as I did a good chunk of them DO. I ended up with a wicked flexor pump from them.
